This plant has ferocious spines on pale yellowish-grey succulent stems. The glaucus leaves, arranged in pairs at the spine bases, are long ovals with a smooth margin. Apart from the leaf shape and the flower colour this is very similar to Monsonia crassicaule. They were both growing in a flat area close to the C13 in the Orange River valley.
