This is the fruit of Acacia haemotoxylon. A hybrid between the two species is known. Acacia haemotoxylon has a south-eastern distribution in Namibia.
Really should be known as camelopardalis thorn as it seems to be the favourite food of giraffes. We saw many grazing on the flowers of this tree.
