G2xx Full Licences
The G2+2 letter calls were the first series issued after the first World War in early 1920. They continued to be granted until the outbreak of hostilities in 1939. At first they were issued in alphabetical order, omitting all the E calls. About 250 were issued in the first year. At some point in 1921 the Post Office started to issued licences bearing some combination of the intials of the licence holder and this continued in some cases throughout the inter-war period. I have a copy of a 1921 Directory of Experimental Wireless Stations which shows 2VW as an early 'initials' call. Calls were not issued for life, but were apparently re-issued if they were allowed to lapse.
