Obituary - Edwin Davis, G3SXY
It is with much sadness that we have to record the death of Edwin Davis, G3SXY who passed away Sunday 26th February, 1989. The funeral took place on Friday 3rd March at "St. Peters" Henleaze. The Group was represented by Tony G4ROX.
The following thoughts were given by Charles G3TTZ.
Eddie Davis, a T.V. engineer arrived on the local Amateur Radio scene in the early 1960s, as a founder member and first Hon. Secretary of B.A.R.C., and was soon accepted, despite a troublesome, physical disability, as a personality. whose technical ingenuity was highlighted by his whimsical humour. Who else would have built his top-band rig into the carcass of a piano, or could be relied on to produce exactly the right component from his mini, to repair some unfortunate member's /M gear in a distant Welsh field during the B.A.R.C's weekend expeditions? Indeed, Eddie coined the phrase "instant rally"' to describe club member's sudden convergence on certain local watering-holes.
Those who served with him on committies in thfe 60's and 70's, will recall his contributions to the Group.
He will be remembered with affection.
